With construction season right around the corner, it is never too soon to start thinking about utility service needs.
If you are building a new home or business and need to have utility service brought in to the location, notify your utility company as soon as possible. An employee in their new construction department will work with you to get the process moving along and answer any questions you may have.
There are many steps involved in obtaining new utility service. Here are just a few of the things to expect: an application will need to be filled out, the utility company may need to meet with you on-site to review the requirements, the job may require engineering, construction charges may need to be paid, right-of-way may need to be obtained, permits will need to be filled out and submitted to the appropriate entities, and the work needs to be placed on the construction team’s schedule. The entire process, from initial application to having utility services installed, could take several weeks so it is very important to contact the utility company as soon as possible in the process.
