Media Advisory: PSC to Host Listening Sessions on NorthWestern Energy's Integrated Resource Plan

HELENA, Montana — The Montana Public Service Commission will conduct a series of five listening sessions on NorthWestern’s 2023 Integrated Resource Plan, which evaluates different potential generation resources that could meet the needs of NorthWestern’s electric service customers in Montana over the next 20 years.

 

According to the 2023 Plan, the resources best suited to address NorthWestern’s needs are flexible natural gas generation and long-duration energy storage resources. The plan does not identify specific new resources for addition to NorthWestern’s resource portfolio.

 

The purpose of the listening sessions is to provide an opportunity for interested members of the public to comment on NorthWestern’s Plan. The dates, times, and locations of the listening sessions are as follows:

  1. August 14, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Commission Chambers in the Civic Center, located at 2 Park Drive South in Great Falls, Montana.
  2. August 15, 2023, starting at noon at the Bollinger Room in the offices of the Montana Public Service Commission, located at 1701 Prospect Avenue in Helena, Montana.
  3. August 16, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Board of Oil & Gas Conservation headquarters, located at 2535 St. Johns Avenue in Billings, Montana.
  4. August 17, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, located at 17 W. Quartz in Butte, Montana.
  5. August 22, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. in Room 340 of the Missoula College Learning Center (river campus), located at 1205 E. Broadway Avenue in Missoula, Montana.

 

The listening sessions will be live streamed on the Commission’s website (http://psc.mt.gov). Comment at each session may be provided in-person, by telephone, or by videoconference. Commenters participating by telephone or videoconference must sign up to receive participation instructions. To sign up, please contact the Commission at 1-800-646-6150 or pschelp@mt.gov by 5:00 p.m. on the day before the listening session.

 

The Commission also invites members of the public to submit written public comments  to the Commission at 1701 Prospect Avenue, P.O. Box 202601, Helena, MT 59620-2601 or by email to pschelp@mt.gov. Public comment may also be submitted through the Commission's website. Instructions for submitting public comments through the Commission's website are available at mt.gov/reddi-help (select “Submit a Public Comment”). Written comments on NorthWestern's Plan are due by August 28, 2023.
